Websites can be broken down to two different styles: 

Static: The information on the webpages is static, or does not change very often. They are sometimes called Brochure websites, because the contain similar information as a brochure or pamphlet.

Dynamic: The information on the webpages is dynamic.  Typically it is data driven, and presents different data based on the user, source data, or time.  Examples of dymamic websites are blogs, shopping sites, photo galleries, directories anything where the information on the page is stored in some type of database.
